[Vox pop]: What Qualities Does a Great Leader Possess?

In your experience what are the qualities of a great leader? We posed this question to women in two groups – Fem Foundry and It’s a Mastermind. This is what they had to say:

Nicoletta Papadopoulou

A huge loving superkind soul full of humanity for all!!!! my dad is a massive authentic one so i live it daily 24/7 in action not empty blah blah and fake show off!!!

Verna Campbell

Someone who is strong, honest, and has integrity. Cares about their employees and treats them with respect..Someone willing to do what they ask their employees to do.Who doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty, and is there for their employees no matter what.Someone willing to have an open door. and great communication skills.

Joanne Jaworski

Having/using strong intuition to hire great people that can do their job and then getting out of the way to let them do it!

Manique Peters

Great leaders are intelligent followers! They have the skill to bring the best out of their followers and make them feel important and appreciated. They have clear vision and goals.

Lizzie Chua

Strength but with empathy and for sure add guidance

Nini S Castle

Someone who goes first and cares about the collective team and each individual as valuable. A great leader is willing to make mistakes and be wrong, learn, grow and take self respect. A great leader is not afraid of what others may think of him/her, but if he/she can be of greatest service. They don’t try to lead – it flows naturally and people are drawn to them because of how deeply they care and how other oriented they are. They love to be a team player vs a ball hog. They don’t see themselves as superior yet they recognize their stance and role.

Mary Polito

Those who walk the talk and talk the walk. Those who have great self- esteem and are confident in what they say or do. Those who can share their experiences and how they got where they are. Those who are genuine at heart and professional in business. Those who are willing to learn from mistakes and continue to push forward and keep growing.

Candy Alviar

One who Walks the talk… practices what one preaches… one who apologizes directly to the person one is accountable to and not to others indirectly.

This quote by Chris Haggerty pretty much sums it up: “The goal of most leaders is to get the people to think highly of them as a leader, but the goal of the exceptional leader is to get the people to think highly of themselves.” Think about that for a minute. The number one quality of an exceptional leader is the ability to get people to think highly of themselves and to believe in themselves – to fall in love with themselves! A great leader always sees the good in other people and will create situations that will bring out the good in other people. The exceptional leader always has a great attitude. To become a great leader, you must first be an intelligent follower. A great leader has people following them because they want to, not because they have to. Napoleon Hill, in his bestselling book, Think and Grow Rich, lists the qualities of a great leader as follows: 1. Unwavering courage; 2. Self-control; 3. A keen sense of justice; 4. Definiteness of decision; 5. Definiteness of plans; 6. The habit of doing more than paid for; 7. A pleasing personality; 8. Sympathy and understanding; 9. Mastery of detail; 10. Willingness to assume full responsibility; 11. Cooperation 🥰

Donna S Boss Branstetter

Laurie Mendonça
Has Integrity, Listens well, Challenges, Is a good example, Holds accountable, and Speaks the truth in love.

Rachel B. Lee

I think great leaders are great listeners. Being a leader is listening, rather than you speak. It’s leading by example. It’s not just saying what to do, but to be what you want others to do. You know, and empathy, there’s this balance of holding a vision but also taking action on it. It’s having the vision and then actually, there’s a difference between the action takers and those that just say things and so I’m just so big on like, follow up. And if you say something, you do it
